Community Partnerships Team Member
The goal of this team is to further our partnership with Motivating Action Leadership Opportunity (MALO), a nonprofit serving Tongan Americans in the Inland Empire. In the past, we've aided with PPE distribution for COVID testing sites, creating resources about the COVID vaccines, and hosted a Medi-Cal insurance workshop. Team members will work closely with MALO on new and existing projects.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Facilitate communication through regular meetings with MALO leadership.
  • Potential long-term projects:
    • Analyze census data from San Bernardino and Riverside counties to aid MALO in creating a statistical model/telling a story of the APIDA community.
    • Creating a publication detailing the healthcare experiences of community members, including experiences navigating healthcare, exploring what health means to people, etc.
  • Potential short-term projects:
    • Understanding and addressing vaccine hesitancy in the Tongan community.
    • Creating public health resources and infographics for social media, or for distribution in person.
    • Monthly resources for preventative healthcare such as American Health month, or Mental Health Awareness month (may be a long-term project if desired).
  • Option for Health Advocate-directed projects (designing and leading your own project in conjunction with MALO).
  • Attend organization-wide meetings, trainings, speaker events, and community building days.
  • Complete training, surveys, and reflection forms in a timely manner.
